The Nintendo Direct partner showcase was closed out by Bethesda, which took the chance to showcase a trove of games coming to Nintendo Switch 2 this year. These were: Fallout 4, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and the Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion remaster.
Reports gave us prior confirmation as to the existence of Switch 2 ports for Fallout 4 and Indiana Jones, but having dates attached to the projects means that fans looking forward to the port finally have a clear timeframe for the wait.
Bethesda took the chance to announce the Switch 2 port for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle last year at Gamescom, while a Switch 2 port of Fallout 4 anniversary was confirmed back in October, before its release on other consoles.
Conversely, the Oblivion remaster port was neither announced nor leaked before. It’s a pleasant surprise for us fans to see yet another beloved open-world Bethesda RPG on Switch hardware.
The Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition port will release on February 24, while Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will come to Nintendo Switch 2 on May 12.
Bethesda gave the Oblivion remaster a nebulous 2026 release window.
It just works on Switch 2
These new Nintendo Switch ports follow a wave of other triple-A releases of the last decade, finally making their way to Switch hardware, including gorgeous JRPGs Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth, as well as cyberpunk RPG Cyberpunk 2077.
It is clear by the breadth of titles released on Switch 2 that the hardware is more than ready to compete, making it exciting to wonder what future ports could be seen.
Although when it comes to Fallout, there are certainly fans such as ourselves who cannot help but wonder when we might get ports for other beloved games, namely, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas.
While the mummerings of a Fallout 3 or Fallout New Vegas remaster have yet to amount to much, these two games represent a peak of Fallout for many.
Especially as games like Skyrim are already on the Nintendo Switch, it is a wonder we have not seen more ported over from Bethesda’s backlog.
However, perhaps this is us being greedy. These new Switch 2 editions are exciting for any Switch 2 owners who have yet to experience these games, or wish to revisit the wasteland following the latest season of the Fallout TV show.
