On the official Arc Raiders Discord, developer Embark confirmed that the game has been the target of “extensive DDoS attacks”. This has resulted in server issues and comes at a time when the developer is attempting to roll out a hotfix across all platforms to resolve unintended issues from update 1.13.0.

Through Discord, Embark confirmed that it was aware of server issues at 3AM PST / 6AM EDT / 11AM GMT on January 28. An hour later, community manager Embark Ossen elaborated, explaining that “both ARC Raiders and THE FINALS have been under extensive, coordinated DDoS attacks”.

Ossen added, “The strike team has been working hard on mitigations and solutions to fix the problem, and we are making good progress – but at this point in time, the attacks are still ongoing”. The community manager promised updates on the situation, but as of this writing, no further details have been provided.

A DDoS attack is short for Distributed Denial-of-Service and is a malicious attack from external sources designed to disrupt online gameplay by flooding servers with overwhelming traffic from bots. This can result in major issues such as lag, as well as players being unable to connect and play online.

Responding to the server issues, fans on Reddit have warned others not to log in, stating that “it’s basically impossible to move” and that “you will lose your loot”. Hopefully, the situation will be resolved shortly so we can all return to enjoying the game online.

Arc Raiders developer rolls out hotfix for “unintended issues” from update 1.13.0

In addition to the DDoS attacks, Embark Ossen has announced that the studio is rolling out a hotfix to address “unintended issues” from update 1.13.0. This marked the first major update as part of the 2026 roadmap, adding the ability to play solo against squads for extra XP, provided you are above level 40.

Below are the unintended issues Embark is seeking to resolve:

  • Fixed an issue that caused unintended fire rate changes to several weapons.

Dev Note: Following yesterday’s update, some weapons were affected by a bug that reduced their rate of fire. This was not an intentional change. We always aim to include all changes in our patch notes, and we appreciate you flagging this quickly.

  • Fixed an issue where some cosmetics available through Raider Tokens were missing from the customization menu if they hadn’t been purchased yet.
  • Fixed an issue where parts of the Ukrainian localization unintentionally appeared in the game.

Dev Note: We’re actively working on a full Ukrainian translation among other languages for ARC Raiders and will release once they are ready.

  • We have heard you wondering about the loot appearing too slowly. We have rebalanced the speed at which the first item appears when looting. The looting speed before 1.13.0 was unintended. Players with the Looter’s Instincts unlocked will still see loot faster than those without.

Unfortunately, the hotfix has been delayed on Xbox, resulting in crossplay being temporarily disabled for Xbox players. Until the hotfix arrives on Xbox Series X/S, you can only enjoy crossplay between PS5 and PC.

While unintended issues are unfortunate, the Highwinds Update was largely positive, introducing the Squads vs. Solo matchmaking option and adding the permanent minor map condition Bird City, which places valuable loot inside chimneys throughout the Buried City map.

Unfortunately, there will not be a new map until April, though Embark has teased additional maps throughout 2026 that are described as being “grander than what we have now”.

Looking beyond this year, the developer has also told fans it has a “good appetite” for eventually adding a social space similar to the Tower in Destiny 2.
