According to prominent leaker NateTheHate, a PlayStation State of Play is planned for February 2026. A State of Play is one of Sony’s recurring yearly showcases featuring trailers and gameplay for upcoming first-party and third-party video games. While Sony has not officially confirmed an event for next month, it wouldn’t be surprising, as the company typically holds a State of Play in February.
In 2025, Sony hosted a State of Play on February 12, which featured trailers for games such as Borderlands 4 and Days Gone Remastered. In 2023, the event took place on February 23, while in 2022 it was held on February 2, and in 2021 it was held on February 25. The only exception was 2024, when Sony held its first State of Play of the year on January 31.
Unfortunately, NateTheHate does not provide any further details beyond stating that an event is planned for next month. If it does happen, it could take place at any time, though State of Play presentations are typically held on Wednesdays or Thursdays. Either way, hopefully Sony will make an official announcement soon.
Games that could appear during PlayStation State of Play February 2026
Assuming the leak is accurate, there are several games that could appear during a PlayStation State of Play in February 2026. These events often feature major third-party titles that are close to release, so Resident Evil Requiem could be shown one final time ahead of its launch on February 27.
Other possibilities include Crimson Desert, which has gone gold ahead of its March release. There’s also Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis coming out in 2026, and February is a special month for the Tomb Raider franchise, as February 14 is canonically Lara Croft’s birthday.
Marathon also seems extremely likely, with its release date set for March 5. Sony acquired Bungie in 2022 for a reported $3.6 billion, and there is a lot riding on Marathon’s success, particularly after Sony admitted its live-service push has “not entirely gone smoothly” following the failure of Concord.
A return of Marvel’s Wolverine would also be welcomed, especially with Wolverine touted to release in either September or October to steer clear of GTA 6. Fans would also appreciate the return of Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic, but this seems unlikely as we haven’t seen anything of Intergalactic since its reveal at The Game Awards 2024, and it’s not scheduled for 2026.
And just in case the obvious needs to be said, don’t expect to see a third trailer for GTA 6.
