Delulu is the first official Fortnite mode to feature proximity chat. Unlike other modes, it relies on social interaction that leads to victory. Due to this, you have no teammates once you just drop into the match, as the game drops you in a random location on the island.
Teaming up with others is done by talking to them and using emotes. Thanks to its social aspect, Delulu has gained a lot of players, but the player count has gone down lately. Now, Epic Games has decided to shut it down, as the game will be permanently removed on Monday, January 19.
Delulu mode will be permanently removed from Fortnite after this week
The last Delulu session started on Friday, January 16, and will he active over the weekend. This time, Epic reduced the number of players in a Delulu lobby to only 50, which is quite drastic. Furthermore, the minimum number of players required to start a match was set to 25.
This change is quite drastic, but certainly not surprising. After all, the Fortnite creator has made numerous changes to this mode since it launched. Epic has made changes to Delulu every week, adding new twists and items.

Fortunately, if you enjoy social modes, this is not the end. While Fortnite will no longer have a Delulu mode, Epic Games is working on a new social mode. The release date of a new mode has not been revealed yet, but we expect it to come out in early 2026.
The next Fortnite update is scheduled to come out in late January, and we might get a new social mode with it. Until then, it is time to play Delulu for one last time.
