There’s uncertainty surrounding whether Mick Foley will be included in the WWE 2K26 roster. As spotted by WWE games content creator, SmackDown Hotel, Mick Foley has recently been removed from a Christmas event for the WWE mobile game SuperCard. This comes in the wake of Mick Foley telling fans online that he is not extending his Legends contract beyond June 2026.

A Legends contract is for talent no longer part of the WWE roster, allowing WWE to use their image and likeness for merchandise as well as video game appearances in exchange for royalties.

Retired wrestlers can still appear in WWE video games without a Legends contract, such as Tyler Breeze, who signed an unspecified contract just to be part of the video games. However, retired stars are less likely to appear without a Legends contract.

In a message posted on his official Instagram account, Mick Foley says he is “parting ways with WWE” over concerns about the company’s “close relationship with [United States president] Donald Trump”. Mick Foley adds he no longer wishes to “represent a company that coddles a man so seemingly void of compassion,” and he “informed @WWE talent relations” that he will not make “any appearances for the company as long as [Donald Trump] remains in office”.

Mick Foley ends his statement declaring that he will “not be signing a new Legends deal when [his] current one expires in June,” even though he loves WWE and “will always treasure [his] time with them”.

After making his debut in 1986, Mick Foley wrestled his last match for the WWE in 2012, appearing in the Royal Rumble. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2013, and during his illustrious WWE career, he most famously wrestled as Mick Foley, Mankind, Dude Love, and Cactus Jack.

WWE 2K26 would lose four wrestlers in Mick Foley’s absence

If WWE 2K26 doesn’t include Mick Foley because of the public falling out and his Legends contract expiring in June 2026, the game’s roster would lose Mankind, Cactus Jack, Dude Love, and Mick Foley, all of whom were playable in 2K25, although Mick Foley was categorized as a manager.

The absence of Mick Foley would be a shame, as he’s consistently appeared in all of the WWE 2K games since 2K20. He has 30 video game appearances in total, listed on Cagematch, dating back to WWF Warzone on the Nintendo 64 in 1998.

While WWE 2K26 might lose four wrestlers through the absence of Foley, it might also gain four new wrestlers from NXT, as Darkstate’s Osiris Griffin confirms he is scanned for the game.

Nothing is official about WWE 2K26 besides plans to release before March 31, 2026. Rumors claim CM Punk is the cover star, which, if true, suggests he might also be involved with Showcase Mode.

The WWE 2K25 roster launched with over 300 wrestlers, and the roster usually grows with every new installment. It’s believed there’s a “significant chance” that AAA stars will join the roster, whereas TNA is more complicated. The inclusion of AAA stars would be a first, and it’s possible as WWE is the majority parent company of AAA after finalizing the acquisition of the Mexican wrestling company in August 2025.

WWE 2K25’s newest update also suggests that The Island is returning in 2K26, and so far, we’ve only gotten a brief look at the game through Xavier Woods and Tyler Breeze filming content.
