Christmas has come early to Helldivers 2 with the return of developer Arrowhead’s annual Festival of Reckoning event. This is a free, limited-time celebration of the holidays available to all players, and it introduces three new “experimental” stratagems, as well as allows you to make and throw snowballs at the enemy.
In a blog post on Steam, Arrowhead confirms that the Festival of Reckoning runs from December 18 until 2:59PM PST/5:59PM EDT/10:59PM GMT on December 31. You have free access to all stratagems, including those from Premium Warbonds you don’t own.
So, if you still haven’t bought the Python Commandos Warbond released in November for 1,000 Super Credits, you can try the M100 Maxigun minigun for free, as well as the FLAM-75 ‘Guard Dog’ Hot Dog, which serves as a drone assisting you in battle as a flamethrower.
Arrowhead also introduces three new “experimental” stratagems. These are the 120MM EMS Projectile With Stun, a Gatling Barrage Fire Projectiles, and a Walking Barrage With Smoke. You can see gameplay of the new stratagems in action via the trailer below:
Finally, there are Major Orders to complete during the event. These will be established in-game, giving you and the community specific missions to complete.
Alongside the Festival of Reckoning, Arrowhead has brought back the Killzone Warbond, and it is free if you bought any Killzone items before they were delisted in December 2024. There are no official details regarding what Arrowhead is planning for 2026, but leaks have uncovered a stealth Warbond, and there are leaked Illuminate Cultists that still haven’t joined the battlefield.
