While the Tides of Annihilation’s release date has yet to be confirmed, the Tides of Annihilation release window is currently set for sometime in 2026 (via WCCFtech).

While storefronts also present a 2026 release window, this window is still subject to change. Tides of Annihilation is still very much in active development. We predict that a late 2026 release is likely, but a 2027 release window is still on the table.

Tides of Annihilation trailers and gameplay analysis

The latest Tides of Annihilation trailer, boldly titled Break the Mirror, shows protagonist Gwendolyn confronting a shape-shifting boss called Tyronoe the Ferryman in the otherworldly realm of Avalon. We see her summoning Lamorak, one of the knights of the Round Table. We also see a demonstration of how you can control both simultaneously.

Creating combos between Gwendolyn and your chosen spectral Knights appears to be the key to mastering this combat. The developers call this the “dual frontline battle system”. It’s impressive, cinematic stuff and bodes well for the title’s future.

The Tides of Annihilation gameplay showcase begins by showcasing Gwendolyn fluidly switching between two different knights to take down a miniboss that can duplicate itself. This suggests that choosing which knights work best together may well be key to victory.

We then see more of what the acrobatic exploration is like, including how Gwendolyn must interact with the environment with the help of her knights to progress. Guiding her is Niniane, a companion who can take the forms of a bird, a young girl, and Gwendolyn’s sword.

Together, they fight Mordred, a powerful boss in an inverted library. To defeat Mordred, the player uses a powerful combo between an offensive and a defensive knight. This combination of strategy and real-time action here is intriguing and could allow Tides of Annihilation to stand apart from the crowd.

The Tides of Annihilation announcement trailer opens in a ruined London, highlighting Gwendolyn’s solitary battle to restore the Holy Grail. Granting her wish means travelling across this post-apocalyptic London and the mythical world of Avalon. Both locales are brought to life with stunning cinematic visuals.

We see Gwendolyn scaling some of the colossal knights that are around London, suggesting that this dynamic exploration and interaction with the environment will be a key part of the experience. The trailer ends by showcasing some of the impressive bosses you’ll fight both in Avalon and London. Many boss fights seem to incorporate the shattered buildings in the environment to create elaborate stages for Gwendolyn’s battles.

As for Tides of Annihilation platforms, we know that the title will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It will also be available on Microsoft’s video game subscription service, Xbox Game Pass

The polish and cinematic quality on display during the Tides of Annihilation gameplay trailers suggest that the title is aiming to enter the market at a AAA-release level.

As such, we can likely expect the Tides of Annihilation price to sit at around $60 (£50), barring a dramatic rise in inflation or industry standard prices. That said, without any open pre-orders to go by, there’s every possibility the price could be higher when they eventually open.

Tides of Annihilation story and setting

Tides of Annihilation follows Gwendolyn, the sole survivor of an otherworldly invasion that shattered London and tore her from her family. To reforge the Holy Grail, a legendary artifact with the power to restore the world, she traverses between the broken modern London and the mystical realm of Avalon.

She vows to enact vengeance on the demigods of Avalon, the cosmic entities who seem to be behind London’s invasion, by summoning spectral versions of the knights of the Round Table to her aid.

This is where heavy inspiration is drawn from Arthurian legend. Each Knight and boss is inspired by a legendary figure from the tales of King Arthur. Tides of Annihilation makes great efforts to come across as eerie, otherworldly, and larger-than-life. All of these qualities are very much in keeping with the ancient tradition of Arthurian storytelling and promise thematic consistency.

The main character, Gwendolyn, will be voiced by Jennifer English, the voice of Maelle in the renowned story-driven RPG Clair Obscur Expedition 33. English is known for her thoughtful, emotional, and deeply moving performances.

Other Tides of Annihilation voice actors include Aliona Baranova, English’s partner, who will be playing Mordred, a principal antagonist. English and Baranova’s chemistry could lead to some compelling and emotionally resonant interactions between the characters, should Eclipse Glow Games give these talented actors ample opportunity to shine.
