Mirror's Edge 2 'is on the list' - EA

EA boss suggests that bringing back Mirror's Edge is more a case of 'when' than 'if'.

A sequel to Mirror's Edge is "on the list" of things to do, EA Labels president Frank Gibeau has suggested, saying it's "really about how and when" to bring the series back.

"We have nothing to announce," said Gibeau speaking in the latest issue of Game Informer. "We love Faith. We love the property. It's really about how and when do you bring it back?

"It's on the list. It's just about looking at what teams are available, who's got the right quality approach to it, and who understands it."

EA has often hinted that a sequel to 2008's first-person free-runner could be in development.

In 2009, EA's Patrick Soderlund told VideoGamer that a "small team" was working on Mirror's Edge 2. Then, during E3 2011, Gibeau hinted that a sequel could be developed using DICE's Frostbite 2 engine.

Later in the year, DICE's Karl-Magnus Troedsson suggested that Battlefield 3's success could improve the chances of Mirror's Edge 2 being built, saying that "part of our strategy moving forward as a studio [is] that we don't just want to build Battlefield."

If you didn't play the game on the hardest difficulty, or try the time trials, then you missed out on what the game is about. Multiple ways to play through each level, as well as finding the hidden bags and beating your friends score...thats classic gaming at its core with an amazing first person perspective. Don't hate a game if you don't know how to play.

Although I appreciate the concept (and the art direction is fab), I'm not a fan of first-person parkour... I like to know exactly how and where I place my feet.

Loved mirrors edge it was a beautiful game and it had a unusual mechanic, loved that guns were frowned upon and gettin one would slow you down, the universe was great as well lived the restricted future setting, just wasn't much of a challenge though I think I completed it in one sitting. Would love a sequel just hope the same mechanic stays there with more assassins creed difficulty route finding sections.

Given the popularity of that other perpetually resurrected thread on these forums ('EA Confirms 'small team' working on Mass Effect 2'), a sentiment I see echoed on many other sites, they'd be daft not to. There were some things that could have been done better in the first game, but on the whole it was a good game, awkward shooting mechanics aside... shotguns? With free-running? If anything, a restriction solely to different kinds of pistols (even wielded akimbo) focused more on forcing opponents into cover affording you an open run, could have been a better gameplay choice. I just hope any sequel will be a little more open...

Mirrors Edge was one of those really great games that just wasn't so great.

If you played the demo before release, then you had actually already played the best that the game had to offer. Such a shame.

Mirror's edge was/is a gem of a game, one of a kind and even now there's still not a game quite like it or at least a successful one anyway.
@Lew3107 Making it third person would be a mistake! the first person perspective is what made it so fresh and different. But i do i think it would make a super launch game for next gen. All those vast open clean white spaces with sharp lines and specs of colour here and there would look truly awesome with tomorrows consoles.

They'll bring it back as an MMO where everyone is running around delivering packages and chasing each other. This would normally be awesome, but Origin :(

Keep the guns out, and keep it first person. The mechanics were great so don't mess them up too much.

YES. Do it in time for the launch of the next generation; release it for PS4, Xbox 8 & Wii U. And take the game to third person, fps isn't that great.
