Battlefield 4 reveal due 'in about 90 days'

EA teases plans for Battlefield 4 reveal - but is a next-gen reveal due, too?

EA will be revealing more about Battlefield 4 "in about 90 days" time, the publisher has teased - including a potential reveal on next-generation formats.

"We've already talked a little bit about that we have a Battlefield title coming next year, but we're not in a position right now to talk about our development plans and our SKU plan long term," said EA Labels president Frank Gibeau during EA's earnings call last night (transcribed by Seeking Alpha).

"That will come in about 90 days when we get to show you some Battlefield stuff."

Gibeau's comments suggest that EA is gearing up for a late-April reveal for Battlefield 4, weeks after next-generation consoles are expected to be announced by Sony and Microsoft.

Later in the call, EA CEO John Riccitiello dropped further hints at a next-gen version of Battlefield 4: "We think Battlefield and FIFA are going to help us lead as we move into the next set of technology opportunities and platform opportunities, and continue to get bigger."

Battlefield 4 is due to ship between April 2013 and March 2014.

My cousin and I am still having a blast with BF3, so I will save up for this for the 360 and PC next year sometime.

Yes, but if they were planning on releasing it in 2015 I'd rather they take all the time they need rather than shoehorning it into a yearly rotational system. I'm not saying this will happen, but I've had similar issues in the past with the likes of World at War, Modern Warfare 3, Medal of Honor and even Black Ops 2. I know these companies want to make money but I really feel that the quality of some games is impeded by the self-imposed need to meet a deadline.

If it's Bad Company 3, I think I will have the same problem as with BF3.

BF3 is one of my favourite games, as BC2 was. Obviously I was quite worried with how they were going to change the game and adapt the multi player. Thankfully after a few weeks I got into it like I did with BC2, but the nerves were there.

Even though it's swapping between series, I'm even more concerned this time around. I really like the 'more realistic' feel of BF3 compared to CoD. It's just, well, better. I really don't want them to go back to mechanics they tried in the BC series, I'm not sure that is a backwards step that I can make.

Though I also don't want it to be BF4 unless it's for launch Next November. I havent the money/time/desire for BF4 at the moment - I need all the DLC for BF3 first! :p

Sure we all know me, I love Battlefield but I won't be surprised to see it being next gen.

I was lucky to have a lot of mates on 360 who when they started to play about with the servers we got our own.

Other sites are playing on there being another Battlefield game next year and is it Bad Company 3

Aye, I prefer Battlefield 3 multiplayer when playing alone than Black Ops 2. Playing with friends makes Black Ops 2 a lot better and so it does on Battlefield. I think I'll get rid of Far Cry 3 tomorrow and knock down the cost of Battlefield 3 premium edition. That will keep me going for a long while.

Put people like me off.

I really liked the BF3 multiplayer, right up until they messed the servers up. I hear it's a lot better now, but once bitten twice shy and all that. I must say that if I weren't playing Blops 2 right now I'd probably think about picking BF3 up on 360 (I own it on PS3). The maps are bigger, you get to drive tanks and fly planes and helicopters. Call of Duty has its own kicks, but Battlefield is the bomb.

If I hadn't already bought it with the one DLC, I would get the premium with all the DLC mate.

I think it's a bargain if I had tbh, just a shame EA messed people around at the start and have put some people off now.

No question about it being next gen. Tempted to get Battlefield 3 Premium edition myself really. I fancy a shooter to tackle into as I'm lacking the online shoot em up on a big scale.

Battlefield 4 is due to ship between April 2013 and March 2014.

Something tells me that April 2013 isn't gonna happen.
