EA is “aiming” to release Battlefield 4 between April 2013 and March 2014, it has confirmed.

The announcement came during EA’s Q1 2013 earnings relations call, where the firm discussed its future plans for the Battlefield and Medal of Honor series’.

“We are aiming to have the next product in the Battlefield franchise in [Fiscal 14],” announced EA Labels president Frank Gibeau.

“With regards to Medal of Honor, we brought the brand back a couple of years ago in 2010 with the goal of building a sustainable long-term franchise that was positioned around the authentic experience of being in combat. We were very proud of the first product; it definitely delivered on a lot of fronts and a couple of fronts it didn’t. We weren’t as pleased with the quality as we had hoped to be.

“Our goal with [Medal of Honor: Warfighter] was to change things up a bit. We changed the tech-base from the Unreal Engine to the Frostbite engine. We added some resources from our DICE studio in Stockholm, and we’ve tried some very innovative things this time around with multiplayer and some other things.

“We’re tracking to grow the franchise from the 2010 version and our goal is to continue to have Medal of Honor as part of our portfolio going forward.”

The FY14 release window suggests that Battlefield 4 may release during October 2013, where EA has chosen to release its AAA shooters since the launch of Medal of Honor in October 2010.

Battlefield 4 was officially announced earlier this month following a leak on EA’s digital service Origin.

A beta test for the game is due to go live in autumn 2013.
