FIFA 13's online multiplayer on Wii U lets players play and compete in ranked seasons.
EA Sports has revealed the first details on the online multiplayer mode due to be included in the Wii U version of FIFA 13.
For the first time in a FIFA game on a Nintendo console, FIFA 13 on Wii U will let players head online and compete in ranked online season play.
"Play 10-game seasons and earn enough points to be promoted or avoid relegation," read a fact sheet released for the game this evening. "Higher divisions mean better competition. Compete for Cups and in dynamic tournaments."
The mode sounds similar to FIFA 12's online Head to Head Seasons mode.
Nintendo has often been criticised for its failure to create a multiplayer network comparable to Xbox Live and PlayStation Network on its Wii console.
Multiplayer modes on FIFA games released previously on Wii were restricted to local play.
FIFA 13 was officially revealed during EA's Summer Showcase this evening. The game feature HD graphics and uses the next-gen engine found in the upcoming Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions.
The Wii U version also provides enhanced functionality over the other versions, including Touchscreen Shooting and Manager Central.
FIFA 13 launches alongside Wii U later this year.
