Square Enix has announced Life Is Strange, a new episodic, narrative-driven adventure from Remember Me developer DONTNOD.

Due for release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, Life Is Strange tells the tale of Max Caulfield, a senior student who returns home to the fictional town of Arcadia Bay, Oregon to uncover “the uncomfortable truth behind the mysterious disappearance of fellow student Rachel Amber” – and discover that she has the ability to rewind time.

Square says that choice will play a key role in how the narrative unfolds, but by taking advantage of Max’s time-bending powers, players will be able to affect the game’s story and “change the course of history itself”.

“Everybody at DONTNOD is excited to be working on such a refreshing title,” said creative director Jean-Max Moris. “We’re not only crafting the best game we possibly can, we also feel we’re providing the type of experience that perfectly fits today’s renewed taste for originality and diversity.”

A release date has yet to be announced, but expect to hear more on the game during this week’s Gamescom.
