The head of Xbox Phil Spencer has praised Sony on the reveal of PS4 Pro earlier this week, but says he remains “very happy” with Microsoft’s future plans.

Speaking on Twitter, Spencer explained: “I always think it’s great when game companies have events and announces. They did a nice job but I’m very happy with our plans.”

Spencer has already announced plans to launch a more powerful Xbox console next year, along with a revision to the existing Xbox One earlier this summer. Codenamed ‘Project Scorpio’, the console promises a powerful 6 TFLOPS GPU along with further upgrades over the Xbox One, and looks set to be the most powerful console on the market following its release late next year.

Microsoft boasted yesterday of the console’s ability to deliver “true 4K gaming”.

The PS4 Pro, meanwhile, which launches this November, includes a 4.2 TFLOPS GPU and adopts a new visual technique called Checkerboard Rendering to help achieve a “4K quality” resolution.
