The System Shock Kickstarter has got off to a great start with backers having pledged almost $650,000 in a matter of days.

Project director Jason Fader says the response has been “crazy” and the “team was incredibly overwhelmed by your support and we truly appreciate it”.

Stephen Kick, the CEO of Nightdive Studios added: “I’m sitting at my desk after our first day of funding and I’m finding it very difficult to put into words just how grateful I am to everyone and the support they’ve given us over the last 24 hours.”

The Kickstarter update also addressed some common questions. Firstly Nightdive says it is in talks with Sony to bring System Shock to PS4 and will have more news in the near future.

The team also plans to update the game demo, potentially on Monday, fixing a range of issues and bugs whilst also introducing a few new features.
