Take-Two has said it is benefiting from the growth of full game downloads, and pointed to Rockstar Games’ PS2 classics which are performing extremely well on PS4.

“Our results also benefited from strong growth in full game downloads, with over 20 per-cent of units for new gen consoles and over 90 per cent of units for PC delivered digitally,” said Take-Two chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick during last night’s year-end earnings call.

“In addition, it bears noting that approximately half of our catalogue sales for old gen consoles are being delivered through digital download. Digital distribution is disproportionately benefiting our catalogue, as it gives consumers the opportunity to buy older titles that no longer receive physical shelf space.

“In particular, Rockstar Games has been having tremendous success with their hit PlayStation 2 titles such as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Bully, which are now available for download on the PlayStation 4, via the console’s emulation technology.”

Zelnick noted that Rockstar Games is the top publisher in the PlayStation 2 classics and PlayStation 4 program with three of the five highest selling games.
