Retailer pins £279 price tag on Wii U
News
ShopTo the first retailer to price Wii U, games to cost £39.99.
Online retailer ShopTo has pinned a £279.99 recommended retail price on Wii U.
The retailer listed the system for pre-order last night, placing a 'TBC' release date on its product page.
Both black and white versions of the Wii U are available to pre-order, each costing £279.99.
Games are also available to pre-order. According to the retailer, they'll carry an RRP of £39.99.
A price and release date for the Wii U has yet to be confirmed by Nintendo.
Nintendo doesn't typically set retail prices for its hardware, instead letting retailers set their own price.
The tactic led to a price war on the Nintendo 3DS during the run-up to launch last March.
Wii U is due to release globally this 'holiday'.

I personally believe it will sell like hot-cakes. A while back when I was talking to someone at GAME, they said a lot of people have been registering their interest for the console. Everyday people asking if they are taking pre-orders for the Wii U, so it is very encouraging for GAME, but also the appeal of the Wii U.

Will be watching Amazon as they seem do do some great launch deals on hardware at the moment.

I can also see supermarket getting it down to £250 as an incentive.

Pre-ordered the black one, but I'll probably change that to a high street retailer near launch when I know where I'm living.

I'll wait till an official price is announced or will pre-oder mid October otherwise. Retailer will fight for the best price anyway so you can see another £20 coming of that price point.
EDIT: considering that a Wii mote and nunckuck will probably be in the box with console from the start as well, does make this prediction a tiny bit more likely.
