The first mobile game from Nintendo and DeNA will launch this year, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has told investors during a Q&A session as reported by Polygon.

“Regarding the individual video game titles, when it will be launched, we will be making the announcement when each of those games are ready,” Iwata explained. “At least, however, we believe that there is no mean of collaboration [sic] if we can’t launch anything, at least once, or some sort of output within this year.”

Iwata added that “the roles of each company will differ depending on games”.

Nintendo and DeNA announced yesterday that the mobile games will be created specifically for the platform and won’t be ports of existing titles.

Perhaps we’ll see the first game at E3 in June.
