2K has today refused to rule out the possibility of BioShock coming to the PS3.

Earlier this week the internet exploded when eagle-eyed forum posters noticed that 2K Boston, previously Irrational Games, was advertising for programmers with Unreal Engine 3 and PS3 experience on its website.

Today a spokesperson for 2K Games told VideoGamer.com that the publisher has “nothing to announce at this time”, which isn’t exactly a denial, but is no-where near a confirmation either.

PS3 owners point towards the fact that BioShock was developed with the Unreal Engine 3 as evidence to suggest they will be in line for a port of the critically acclaimed FPS.

However, we would counter that by saying that so many games use the Unreal Engine 3 right now that the game in question could be anything. It could, even, be the much rumoured follow-up to BioShock, speculated as a prequel set before the collapse of underwater city Rapture.

The spokesperson added: “As usual in these matters we don’t comment on Internet rumour and speculation.”

We’re sure this isn’t the end of the BioShock/PS3/sequel rumour mill. Rest assured we’ll bring you the latest as we get it. Until then, you can see why we gave BioShock a perfect 10 in our review here, and what the recent widescreen enabling patch does for the looks of the game in our exclusive screenshots here.
