Speaking at the GDC, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata revealed fresh details on a number of Nintendo games and talked about the DS and Revolution. As was expected, the DS is to go online. Later in the year games will be released that allow gamers to hook up to wireless hotspots, making it possible for worldwide gaming. Iwata announced that a Nintendo DS version of Animal Crossing will feature online play.

Mentioning the Nintendo Revolution (currently only a codename), he revealed that the machine will be backwards compatible with the GameCube and will also include wireless support. While no hardware technical specs were given, Nintendo’s next home console will include an ATI made graphics chip, currently codenamed “Hollywood,” and an IBM built processor codenamed “Broadway.”

If these titbits of information weren’t enough to get the crowd going, the showing of an all new Zelda trailer certainly was. The Legend of Zelda, which will be released later this year for the Nintendo GameCube, wowed the crowd and is set to do the same to Nintendo fans across the world. Internet forums are already full of praise for the trailer.

With E3 only two months away, we can hardly contain our excitement for what will surely be one of the most exciting shows in the event’s history.
