Microsoft will introduce dashboard themes and screenshot functionality to Xbox One in future system updates, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has announced.
“Themes and background pics are something that we are working on,” Spencer confirmed while talking to Xbox podcast The Inner Circle. “And screenshots. I know people beat me up on screenshots…
“The team’s done a great job with the monthly updates,” he continued. “Some of the things are just a prioritisation or time in development but I know people like to customise the look of their dash and I think themes, backgrounds and screenshots are things that I know people want so we’re going to deliver them.”
Xbox One users have been requesting the option to take screenshots and customise their dashboard since the console’s launch last November, which currently only allows players to change the colour of the dashboard’s icons.
Whether the functionality will arrive this year, however, we still don’t know. “I can’t give you a when yet…,” Spencer added.
The option to take screenshots has been integrated into PS4 since the console’s arrival last year, with themes due to arrive later this autumn.
