Xbox One is getting a completely redesigned dashboard this autumn, Microsoft has announced.
The new user interface will feature a vertical design separated into four different tabs, including a new Quick Menu, Home, Community and Store.
The first tab, Quick Menu, offers players instant access their Friends list, Messages, Settings and Notifications, and can be accessed mid-game up by double-tapping the Xbox button, similar to the current Snap functionality. Unlike Snap, however, the Quick Menu doesn’t scale down the game screen, instead simply overlaying the gameplay.
The new Home tab, meanwhile, allows players to access information about their recently played games, shortcuts to recently recorded videos and their Pins.
Heading further right to the Community section will pull up your Activity Feed and an Xbox Live Trending chart, with the Store tab sitting on far right side of the screen.
Microsoft’s Siri-like service Cortana will also be introduced with the new dashboard, allowing players to find friends and start parties on Xbox Live through voice commands.
And Avatars are coming back, too, with a new modernised look for Xbox One.
An exact release date for the new dashboard has yet to be announced, but to see how it all works check out the walkthrough video below.
