Fears over high pricing of the Xbox One and PS4 may be over, with GameStop claiming that both consoles will launch at cheaper prices than their predecessors.
During the firm’s post-earnings financial call, GameStop chief financial officer Rob Lloyd stated that he thinks the new consoles will have a “lower opening price point than they did last cycle.”
In the US market the Xbox 360 launched with two skus ($300/$400) and the PlayStation 3 was available at $500 or $600.
UK gamers will be hoping the cheaper launch prices apply here too, where the Xbox 360 Premium retailed for £279 and the PlayStation 3 40GB £425.
