Windows 8 will be released by late October 2012, Tami Reller, corporate vice president of Windows, told partners attending Microsoft’s worldwide partner conference in Toronto (via ZDNet).
The new OS is on track to be released to manufacturing in the first week of August.
A late October release for Windows 8 points to an October/November launch for Microsoft’s Surface RT tablet, which the firm said in June would be available at the time Windows 8 becomes generally available.
Microsoft has sold 630 million Windows 7 licenses.
