Voice-controlled RTS There Came an Echo will soon be released for PS4, Iridium Studios has announced.

Players will take the role of the commander, issuing orders via a headset to the soldiers in the field. There’s an element of X-COM Enemy Unknown about how the game looks.

“A lot of you might feel a little antsy about voice recognition,” wrote Jason Wishnov, lead designer, Iridium Studios. “And we understand! But we’d encourage you to turn on your PlayStation 4 and give the basic OS voice commands a shot.”

If players don’t get on with the game’s default voice commands it is possible to enter custom word or phrases for every existing unit and command. If this still isn’t working out you can opt to play the game using only the DualShock 4.

The game features the vocal talent of Wil Wheaton, Ashly Burch, Yuri Lowenthal, Laura Bailey, Karen Strassman, Rachel Robinson and Cindy Robinson.

It’s too early to talk release dates, but Iridium is working closely with Sony to ensure the game makes it to the PlayStation Store as soon as possible.
