Back in July a LA Times blog post revealed that Dead Space and Dante’s Inferno developer Visceral Games’ next project would be based on the 19th century Whitechapel serial killer Jack the Ripper.
“… two sources close to EA told The Times that Visceral’s next game would be Jack the Ripper, based on the 19th century British serial killer. It’s not clear what the game would involve, but it’s a natural follow-up of sorts to Dante’s Inferno, which is also based on copyright-free historical material,” posted the blog.
This has now been supported through the discovery of two recent trademark registrations made by EA for “The Ripper”, thought to be the title for the project.
Jack the Ripper has appeared or been referenced in many video games down the years, including Metal Gear Solid 2 and Shadowman.
