Thimbleweed Park is coming to PS4 in August

Thimbleweed Park, the classic-style point-and-click puzzle adventure by industry luminaries Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick has been confirmed as getting a PlayStation 4 version, releasing on August 22. By Mr Gilbert himself, no less.

If you’ve not played it yet, Gilbert gives a spoiler-free taste of how the story begins in his post on the PS Blog, saying ‘The game initially follows agents Ray and Reyes as they investigate a body found in the river just outside the town of Thimbleweed Park. Players can freely switch between the two of them and solve puzzles to try and find out who murdered the poor guy under the bridge’. Obviously things don’t quite go to plan, and that’s when things begin to ‘get weird’.

Thimbleweed Park was released earlier this year on the PC to positive praise. Since then fans have been haranguing Gilbert with questions about a possible console port of the game. Naturally, Gilbert is pleased to share the love, saying, ‘It’s exciting to see that the interest in this game extends far beyond the die-hard adventure game fans who backed it, and we’re thrilled to bring Thimbleweed Park to a whole new audience’.

It will be released on PS4 on August 22, following on from the PC, Xbox One and Mac releases.
