As part of Ubisofts E3 announcement, details on the new Prince of Persia game have emerged, along with a couple of tasty screenshots. The plot synopsis gives us perhaps the biggest clue into how the game will play out:

“The Prince of Persia, a seasoned warrior, returns from the Island of Time to Babylon with his love, Kaileena. Instead of the peace that he longs for, he finds his homeland ravaged by war and the kingdom turned against him. The Prince is rapidly captured and Kaileena has no choice but to sacrifice herself and unleash the Sands of Time in order to save him. Now cast out on the streets and hunted as a fugitive, the Prince soon discovers that past battles have given rise to a deadly Dark Prince, whose spirit gradually possesses him.”

Dark Prince anyone? I can practically hear the nu-metal already. It seems that the sucess of the last game will have a lot more influence on this particular sequel, than the original Sands of Time. The game also seems to have been influenced by another of its Ubisoft stable mates, by introducing stealth kills into the mix. Along with this players will able to access “an expanded freeform fighting system to destroy enemies in [their] own style.” Whether these changes will help it overcome the problems of the most recent game in the series is the main question, but we remain hopeful. We’ll be sure to give you a hands on look at the game once we see it at E3.
