LucasArts whip cracker, Jim Ward has announced that they would like to “take advantage of the fact that in the next couple of years there will be a new Indiana Jones movie” and resurrect the flagging videogame franchise with yearly game iterations, much like EA does with Bond games at the moment.

Claiming that the IP has been “stagnant” for years, Ward appears to be excited about the prospect of returning the franchise to its glory days of The Fate of Atlantis and The Last Crusade (the graphic adventure, not the shonky action game). Speaking to American games mag, Game Informer he said: “There’s no reason that Indiana Jones can’t be a James Bond and have a year-in, year-out great representation of that brand.”

Recent Jones games have tailed off in terms of quality but with a new movie in the offing and plenty of fans worldwide, the franchise popularity could easily be capitalised on with the right kind (and quality) of game.
