The first trailer for the upcoming Detective Pikachu movie is in, and against all odds, it looks bloody great. I'm not quite sure how Ryan Reynolds voicing Pikachu works, but it just does.
Detective Pikachu revolves around Justice Smith's character, Tim Goodman, a failed Pokemon trainer who teams up with Pikachu, voiced by Reynolds. However, while other people can't understand the little yellow chap (all they hear is 'Pika Pika'), Goodman understands him, hence why he sounds like Ryan Reynolds. And it works. It shouldn't, but it does.
The trailer is packed full of cameos from various Pokemon too, which will probably keep you busy for good while trying to spot them all.
Detective Pikachu is scheduled to hit cinemas on May 10, 2019. Watch the trailer below.
