Nintendo has revealed it has no plans to retire the 3DS at any point in the near future, with the hardware giant confirming it will support the handheld until at least 2019.

Speaking in its latest financial report this week, the House of Mario said that it will 'continue to maintain this business' thanks to an influx of new titles, including a Luigi's Mansion remake, Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, and WarioWare Gold among others. That's not all however, as Ninty indicated there's plenty more in the pipeline that have yet to be announced.

'In addition to the titles currently on sale we have announced the coming release of the titles shown here,' said the company, 'we are even preparing new software for release in 2019 and beyond.'

Nintendo recently confirmed that the Switch is quickly approaching 18 million units sold worldwide, with Super Mario Odyssey currently the best-selling game on the console with over 10 million units shifted.

The 3DS was released back in 2011 and has seen numerous revamps ever since, including an updated model featuring a second analog stick and the new 2DS incarnation that's aimed at younger players.
