Speaking at the Dow Jones Consumer Technology Innovations Conference this week, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has expressed disappointment in the platform holder’s inability to meet the huge demand for its Wii console.
“At this point, we are literally trying to catch up with demand,” said Fils-Aime who admits stock shortages are damaging sales to the non-gamer demographic. “They aren’t going to sleep outside of a store overnight or visit a retailer five or six times. It is literally a missed opportunity.”
Nintendo of America recently announced that for the week ending November 24, 350,000 units of the Wii were sold – the strongest sales period after the launch of the console.
