Star Wars Kinect will be released Christmas 2011, Kinect for Xbox 360 creative director Kudo Tsunoda has revealed.

The Star Wars title, in development at Terminal Reality, was revealed back in June during a lavish Kinect-related performance from Cirque du Soleil. A one minute sequence of lightsaber action culminated in a duel with Dark Vader.

“We have a Kinect Star Wars game coming out for next holiday,” Tsunoda told the BBC at last night’s Kinect launch.

“I think you could just easily imagine being a Jedi and using Kinect to make you feel you’re part of a Star Wars experience, building yourself up into a Jedi.

“I’ve seen a bunch of the game and it’s super compelling.”

That’s not all Tsunoda is excited about.

“And another one next year is Forza, which is the best racing game of this generation of consoles,” said Tsunoda. “Those are the two games I’m most excited about.”

Beyond the Kinect launch line-up, the release slate for the all-body controller is looking pretty bare. We know of a bunch of titles coming out of Japan – Child of Eden, Rise of Nightmares, Codename D, Project Draco and Steel Battalion – but we can’t think of many more.

Star Wars won’t be out until next winter and we’ve seen very little on Forza.
