EA has announced that the Sims 2 is heading to home consoles and handhelds in Fall 2005. On the PC the Sims 2 has sold in excess of 4.5 million copies and that success looks set to be repeated when the game makes an appearance on almost every other platform available. The game will ship for PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, PSP, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance and mobile phones. The ports will include exclusive features and will allow gamers to take direct control of their Sim without using the cursor and the handheld versions will include unique storylines.
“Fans have been asking for The Sims 2 on console since it launched on the PC in September last year. We are thrilled to finally be able to bring it to them,” said Sinjin Bain, Executive Producer EA/Maxis. “The Sims 2 will be everywhere this fall, giving players on consoles and handhelds all new ways to take control of their Sims and tell all new stories.”
Expect to hear more about the Sims 2 later in the year.
