Microsoft has announced that Catan will be released on Xbox Live Arcade this week. The game is the Xbox Live Arcade edition of the massively popular Settler of Catan board game and puts players in the role of colonists on a newly discovered island.
Players will vie for control of valuable territory and resources through strategy and trading, with the basics possible to learn in minutes, but still challenging to Catan experts. The game is made more accessible thanks to a ‘Learn As You Play’ tutorial.
Gone is the lifeless board of the board game, replaced with a new 3D living world game board, with players taking on challenges against any combination of 13 historical personalities such as Alexander, Cleopatra and Tokugawa.
The game is fully Xbox Live compatible with up to four players able to battle it out online, complete with voice chat.
Catan also includes the usual 12 Achievements and 200 Gamerscore points, and will be available from 09:00 GMT on Wednesday, May 2 priced 800 Microsoft Points.
