Many people were expecting an announcement regarding the Revolution’s real name to be made during Satoru Iwata’s keynote speech at last week’s GDC. The announcement failed to materialize, but following the emergence of a new logo and name appearing on a Nintendo presentation slide and brochure, speculation is rife that the real name for the Revolution is to be the Nintendo Go.
The pictures, which appeared on tech blog Engadget, show a blue logo formed form d-pads and the name Nintendo Go. Internet chat has expectedly gone into overdrive over the matter, with some people pointing out that “go” is Japanese for “five,” which would make sense as the Revolution is Nintendo’s fifth home video game console.
Others have dismissed the rumour, claiming that Nintendo would be crazy to bin the already popular ‘Revolution’ name. Nintendo is staying quiet on the matter, although the company is still referring to the name Revolution as the code-name for its next home console. As always, we’re probably going to have to wait until E3 in May to find out the truth.
