The PS4 re-imagining of Ratchet & Clank – first released on PS2 13 years ago – will miss its planned 2015 launch and is now expected in spring 2016, Insomniac Games has announced.

Insomniac Games chief brand officer Ryan Schneider says the wait will be worth it.

“Rest assured we’re using the time wisely to further polish the game to a spit-shine level, with dazzling shader response, awe-inspiring effects, velvety smooth animations, and spectacular new gameplay segments. Really, we can’t wait to show it to you,” he explained.

The game features several new levels, plus re-imagined locations including Metropolis, new weapons and completely redone visuals.

The origin story of the game ties in with the film, which has now been confirmed to hit US theatres on April 29.
