UPDATE – Jan 13: The Division’s closed multiplayer beta will begin in January, the Uplay app has confirmed.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Division’s closed multiplayer beta is set to begin on Friday, January 29, according to an alleged email from UK games retailer FunStock Digital.

In a supposed exchange between a customer and the retailer’s support team last week, a FunStock representative is said to have stated that “the closed beta starts on the 29th January. We will be receiving and distributing the keys in the next 2 weeks before the beta starts”.

The retailer allegedly went on to state that it had been given the date “by the key supplier”, although it isn’t clear whether that’s Ubisoft or a third-party distributer.

Ubisoft has yet to confirm a start date for the beta beyond “early 2016”. Players can guarantee access by pre-ordering the game or paying above the average in the latest Humble Bundle.

The Division launches on PS4, Xbox One and PC on March 8.
