Alexander “Graf Chokolo” Egorenkov, the notorious German PS3 hacker, is confident he’ll end up in jail after running out of money to fund his court battle with Sony.

“Hi guys,” he said, addressing the readers of his blog, “no money left anymore. Going to jail soon probably because I cannot pay court costs.”

Egorenkov attempted to restore Linux to the PS3 after Sony removed it in its v3.21 firmware update. Sony claims his actions helped enable piracy, and is suing him one million Euros.

“I’m ready to stand up for everything I said and go to jail for that, too.” he said.

“It’s not important to win, more important is to show them that we are ready to fight, that they cannot scare me off that easily. Yeah, I’m ready to go to jail for my beliefs and my principles.”

He’s now calling for donations to help fund the remainder of the court case.

“I will get out eventually and continue my work. My work means very much to me.”

Hackers are being clamped down on elsewhere, after Police arrested an Essex teenager with ties to LulzSec.
