Nintendo has slashed £50 from the price of its Wii console, introducing a new hardware bundle priced at £129 – down from the previous entry point of £179.

The new bundle – to be introduced on May 20 – will include a white Wii console, a copy of Mario Kart Wii and matching colour Wii Remote Plus, Nunchuk and Wii Wheel.

Nintendo will also cut the price of the existing Wii Sports pack, with prices to fall to around £129.

This is the first official price cut since the Wii launched in the UK over four years ago. The lower price will surely see an increase in sale as it looks to regain the momentum lost to the Xbox 360 and Kinect in recent months.
