Online social game developer Zynga has joined powers with Chinese web company Tencent to launch a version of CityVille for the Chinese market, according to BusinessInsider.

The game will be called Zynga City and is currently being developed by Zynga’s Beijing division.

Zynga City will be distributed via Tencent’s social networking platform Pengyou as opposed to Facebook – a significant move for the company considering its past reliance on Facebook as a platform.

The game will eventually come to Tencent’s Qzone which currently has over 500 million active accounts.

According to Zynga, Zyngaville is inspired by “both traditional and pop culture in China”.

It is set to release in the next few days.
