The first wave of Amiibo characters will launch in the UK on November 28, Nintendo has announced, with a second wave due to arrive just in time for Christmas.

The first wave includes a total of 12 characters, including Mario, Link, Kirby, Star Fox and more, with each character expected to cost around £10.99.

Then from December 19, Nintendo will release a further 6 characters, including Zelda, Diddy Kong, Luigi, Little Mac, Pit and Captain Falcon. More characters are due to release throughout 2015.

The first game to support Amiibo will be this December’s Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, with Smash Bros 3DS, Mario Kart 8, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Mario Party 10 and Yoshi’s Woolly World all due to receive support at a later date.

Nintendo has yet to confirm when support will be patched into previously released games.
