The new trailer for Playtonic’s Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair shows off the sequel’s new feature that will change level states through hidden secrets and puzzles. There are 20 2.5 levels to be found in the 3D overworld, but by interacting with switches and clouds, this doubles to 40.

After completing a level in its default state, you rescue a Royal Beettalion Guard from the villainous Capital B. Open the literal floodgates and those same levels will then be submerged, offering up a new challenge. Clouds that you interact with can also freeze surroundings and see you slipping and sliding to the finish line.

Just a few examples of gameplay changes in each of these transformed levels is showcased below. Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair will arrive at the end of 2019.
