Sega confirmed in the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu (via Gematsu) that the Yakuza 4 remaster will launch in Japan for PlayStation 4 on January 17, 2019.

While there's still no word on a western release for the remaster, it is interesting to note that one of the game's main characters, Masayoshi Tanimura, has been recast. His original voice actor and face model, Hiroki Narimiya, has retired from the industry, so Sega was unable to use him when re-recording some of the dialogue.

As a result of Narimiya-san's retirement, Toshiki Masuda will now portray the character, both in terms of Tanimura's in-game model and voice work.

In case you haven't been keeping up with Sega's gangster-fuelled franchise, Yakuza 4 employs four unique characters, among which includes series staple Kazuma Kiryu. Tanimura is one of the playable roles in the game, and works as a beat cop.

Yakuza 4 was originally released for the PlayStation 3 on March 18, 2010 in Japan before hitting the US and UK a year later.

Sega is remastering all of the PS3-era mainline Yakuza games for its current-generation console, although we don't know if they'll ever arrive outside of Japan. The most recent game to see a UK release was August's Yakuza Kiwami 2 on PS4.
