SEGA Europe has today announced that Yakuza 2 will be released across Europe in 2008, exclusively for the PlayStation 2.

The sequel to the third-person action adventure Yakuza features enhanced combat, larger environments and a storyline that begins a year after Yakuza ended. Players are once again plunged into the world of Japan’s notorious underground organisation.

“We are thrilled to treat the gamers in Europe to the sequel of the critically acclaimed Yakuza,” said Gary Knight, European Marketing Director, SEGA Europe. “Yakuza 2 is one of the most requested Japanese titles in our portfolio and we’re delighted to finally announce a European version.”

SEGA’s not pinning down a date yet, with sometime during 2008 all the publisher is currently committing too. It’s a positive sign that European gamers will also at some point in the future get to play the third game in the series, recently released in Japan on PlayStation 3.
