Yakuza 0 is heading to Europe in early 2017 exclusively on PS4, SEGA has confirmed. The game will be available both physically and digitally.

The European release will feature the game’s original Japanese voice over and English-only subtitles. Other languages do not appear to be supported.

Confirmation follows earlier confusion over a European release after a trailer for the game stated that it is “coming to North America and Europe”. The trailer was removed shortly after, however, with a tweet from SEGA stating that it could not confirm a European release at that time.

It isn’t yet clear whether the game will launch in Europe simultaneously with its North American release. It originally launched in Japan in March 2015.

Set seven years before the events of the original game, Yakuza 0 tells the origins story of Yakuza member Kazuma Kiryu and his rise within the organisation. SEGA states that “newcomers to the Yakuza series will be able to experience the action-packed, story-driven adventure from the very beginning of Kazuya’s story, one that focuses on navigating the seedy underworld of Japan while Yakuza fans will have the added joy of also getting the chance to play as long-time NPC, Majima Goro – the Mad Dog of Shimano.”

An exact release date for the game has yet to be confirmed, but expect to see it early next year.
