2K Marin’s first-person XCOM is still in development and due for release between April 2013 and March 2014, Take-Two Interactive has confirmed.
The FPS title has been subject to heavy delays since its announcement in 2010.
Nevertheless, Take-Two says that “2K Marin continues to move forward with the [game’s] development… which is planned for release during fiscal year 2014”.
XCOM is a “tactical squad-based shooter offering a strong character-driven experience” which was originally scheduled to launch during 2011.
It was later pushed back to March 2012 before being delayed again, owing to a major revamp.
But as 2K Marin continues to work on XCOM in the background, publisher 2K Games has turned its attention to XCOM: Enemy Unknown, an upcoming strategy game from Firaxis, developers of the original XCOM games.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown releases on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on October 12.
