Microsoft’s Gamescom press conference had a “strange use of commas,” Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president Jim Ryan has claimed when questioned by Game Central about Microsoft’s exclusivity deal for Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Ryan also confirmed that Sony hasn’t spoken to Square Enix about the deal.
“We haven’t had any conversations with Square Enix recently,” confirmed Ryan. “I’m not… I’m not clear if it’s wholly exclusive or if it’s timed.”
Regarding making another popular multi-platform title a Sony exclusive, Ryan insisted it currently had a strong enough first-party line-up to make this unnecessary, but wouldn’t rule it out completely.
“I never rule anything in or out, but we’ve got all our studios, in all parts of the world, working on stuff for PS4 – some of it announced, some of it yet to be announced – and we’re pretty happy with what they bring,” he explained.
“I never rule anything out, but I don’t see a necessity for it right now.”
Rise of the Tomb Raider will launch on Xbox One and Xbox 360 in holiday 2015.
