Xbox One’s Kinect requirement has a new benefit; the ability to redeem codes by scanning QR codes, corporate vice president of Xbox Marc Whitten has confirmed.

Whitten’s confirmation came after a Reddit user posted the image below, asking the firm to do away with the laborious task of entering 25 digit codes.

“To my reddit friends — yup — this works!” Whitten wrote.

Codes are typically used for Xbox Live subscriptions, DLC, Arcade games and MS Points (soon to be replaced with local currency).

Xbox One will launch in November at £429.99.

While we don’t think the ability to scan QR codes justifies the added cost of Kinect, it is a welcome addition, and a feature which all Xbox One users will benefit from.
