The Xbox One SmartGlass app is now available to download for free on iOS, Android and Windows Phone ahead of this Friday’s console release.

The app lets Xbox One users navigate content on their console using their smartphone or tablet’s touchscreen, control their media and set top box, watch game clips, message friends, use SmartGlass Companions and more.

One SmartGlass Companion available at launch is the Dead Rising 3 mobile, which reskins your smartphone to reflect the one in-game and lets players take calls and receive missions from in-game characters.

It’s also a separate app to the previous Xbox SmartGlass app, meaning you’ll have to download both if you wish to continue using SmartGlass with your Xbox One and Xbox 360.

To check it out, head through to the iTunes App Store, Google Play or Windows Phone store. The app is also expected to be available for Windows 8 in time for launch.
