Xbox One will release in thirteen territories – including the US and the UK – on November 22, Microsoft has announced.

The date means that Xbox One will launch before PlayStation 4 in the UK, but one week after PS4’s launch in North America.

“We are humbled and gratified by the tremendous interest in Xbox One from game fans everywhere,” said Yusuf Mehdi, CVP of Marketing, Strategy and Business for Xbox. “We sold out of our pre-order supply faster than at any other time in our history and we are on path to have the biggest launch of an Xbox ever. We look forward to celebrating with millions and millions of gamers this holiday.”

Earlier today, Microsoft announced that it had boosted the Xbox One’s CPU performance by almost 10 per cent, increasing the clock speed from 1.6GHz to 1.75GHz.

It also revealed that it would continue to support Xbox 360 until 2016.

Xbox One Day One Edition is still available to order at many retailers.
